Northern Business Forum

Who we are

tyneBridgeAtNightThe NBF is a membership body, which represents the collective interests of business in the region. Our members include the  North East Chamber of Commerce, CBI, Institute of Directors, EEF and Federation of Small Business.

The NBF faciliates dialogue between the public and private sector.  We bring together groups to share knowledge, exchange opinions and drive the business agenda as a credible and influential business voice in the region.

The Forum is managed by a board made up of senior executives and leaders of the member bodies, led by an independent chairman who is nominated by the full board. John Cuthbert, who was Managing Director of Northumbrian Water is the current chair and is supported by a small administrative  team based at the North East Chamber of Commerce.

A steering group led by the chairman, helps to determine the Forum priorities.  Policy groups, made up of key business support organisations are set up as the need requires, to consult with public sector bodies and provide feedback on regional policy issues.

As pro-active engagement with government agencies is a critical part of our work, colleagues from One North East and the Dept. for Business, Innovation and Skills , are invited to attend board meetings.  The Forum has a strong relationship with regional decision makers ensuring the voice of business is heard and acted upon.
