Northern Business Forum

What we do

parkAndRideThe NBF aims to ensure that the business voice is heard in the region. Through our membership, we are able to bring to the attention of the region's governing bodies, a wider consensus view of private business.  NBF acts as a conduit for information on regional public policy and we can also add weight to the lobbying activities of our constituent members.  Our role is to ensure that private sector priorities are reflected in the work of the key govening bodies. This is achieved through effective lobbying, influencing and consultation.

Engaging with regional and national policy and decision makers including senior civil servants, Politicians, MPs and Government Ministers is key to our work. Current areas of interest include transport, skills, education, regeneration and regional governance. Here are some examples of our lobbying activities.

Regional Economic Strategy  - We facilitated consultations, which enabled our board members to pro-actively engage with OneNorthEast with regard to the Regional Economic Strategy (RES). Engagement with senior executives at One NorthEast, gave our board members the opportunity to influence the direction of the strategy and ensure that private sector priorities were reflected in the document.

Regional Funding Allocations Transport - NBF organises transport meetings to assist the Interim Regional Transport Board with priorities for transport spend. The consultations enable our board members and their nominated individuals to look at the priorities for regional transport schemes and assess the funding priorities for the region working with the regionale agencies.

Ministerial Events - We have hosted a number of events with Government Ministers and senior civil servants in partnership with Government Office North East.
